Il nuovissimo gruppo uscito dalla verve di Carlo Actis Dato , la cui musica è un vero spettacolo di improvvisazione , sia musicale che scenica.
Musique Vivante è formato da giovani musicisti , sicure promesse nel mondo del jazz italiano.
La musica del gruppo, tutta composta da C.Actis Dato, attinge i suoi spunti dal jazz, dalla musica etnica mediterranea e medio-orientale, dal funk, dal R&B, dalla musica africana e caraibica, dalla salsa, dalla morna capoverdiana, da sonorità balcaniche e dell’Europa meridionale.
Il gruppo esegue quindi musica d’arte resa facilmente fruibile attraverso riferimenti e citazioni di musiche appartenenti al comune sentire, evitando sterili intellettualismi ed inutili virtuosismi, offrendola al pubblico in modo che possa riconoscersi e ritrovarsi in essa.
Carlo Actis Dato – baritone & tenor sax, bass clarinet
Born in Turin in 1952. He has been living in the south of Italy during the childhood. His grandfather played trumpet in the marching band of his village in Piedmont, north of Italy. He started to play clarinet in this band , then he played sax in several bands of dance music, R&B and swing. He was co-founder in '74 of Art Studio, one of the first group to play new jazz in Italy and Europe.
He leads his Actis Dato Quartet, exhibiting in over 300 festivals in Japan, Morocco, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, France, Finland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Ethiopia, Lithuania,South Africa, Antilles and Italy. Also exibiting in clubs everywhere in Europe and Japan. The Quartet, assembled in 1984, has participated to radio programs for many national networks in Europe. In the annual referendum of music critics of "Musica Jazz" magazine it was ranked for seven times among the top Italian groups and his records are on "The Penguin Guide to Jazz" and on Larousse Encyclopaedia. He co-leads Atipico Trio (Berlin, Helsinki, Le Mans, Madrid...) , Brasserie Trio (Nevers, Mulhouse, Moers, Clusone, Pisa, Saalfelden, Roma) and TAO (2 tour in Japan & Italy). He plays Solo recitals (Sarajevo, Skopjie, Nimes, Le Mans, Perpignan, Roma, Rive-de-Gier, Vancouver, eight tours in Japan, 2 in USA, 2 in Canada). He leads Actis’Band, aggressive-downtown music (Italy, Germany, Belgium, Slovenia, Switzerland, Greece, Indonesia, Finland).
He is a member of Italian Instabile Orchestra, six times voted as the best group in Italy , touring Japan and Canada, everywhere in Europe, Chicago, recording with Cecil Taylor; of Minafra Sud Ensemble,
(best Italian group in 2005), Fazio Sextet , Duo w. E. Rocco (playing with them everywhere in Europe, Argentina,Japan), Ellen Christi Quintet (New York, Toronto, Senegal). He took part in many dance and theatre performances. He was ranked among the best baritone sax players worlwide (first Italian jazz musician to reach this nomination) from the 2001’ critics poll of the american magazine “Down Beat”. He was Artistic Director of “Italia in Fukui” Festival, Japan. He played with dozen of European, American and Japanese musicians, among them David Murray, Cecil Taylor, Ken Vandermark, W.Horvitz, B. Phillips, L.Moholo, R.Garrett, J.Shahid, E.Rava, G.Gaslini, M.Dresser, L.Bowie, D.Sanborn, M.Nicols, K.Tippett, G.Sommer, A.Salis, L.Konté, K.Umezu, M.Satoh, T.Kondo, S.Fujii, A.Sakata, C.Zingaro, M.Bisio, J.McPhee.........
